How to Replace Your ZeroWater Pitcher or Dispenser Filter

ZeroWater is built around a simple promise: water with a 000 TDS (total dissolved solids) reading. The included TDS meter is actually the best way to know when your filter needs replacing — no guessing required.

How often to replace it

Rather than a fixed schedule, ZeroWater recommends testing your water regularly with the included meter. Once your filtered water reads above 006 ppm, it's time for a new filter — for most households that's roughly every 2–3 months, though well water or heavily mineralized tap water will wear a filter out faster.

What you'll need

Your replacement 5-stage filter and, ideally, your TDS meter to confirm the old one is actually due.

Steps

1. Remove the reservoir (the top section) from the pitcher or dispenser.
2. Pull the old filter straight up and out of the reservoir base — it may require a firm, steady pull since the seal is designed to be tight.
3. Rinse the new filter briefly under cold tap water for about 10–15 seconds to clear loose carbon dust, which is normal and not a defect.
4. Insert the new filter firmly into the reservoir base until it's seated and doesn't wobble.
5. Reassemble the reservoir onto the pitcher and run the first pitcher-full of filtered water down the drain rather than drinking it, to flush any remaining carbon fines.
6. Test the new filter's output with your TDS meter — a fresh filter should read close to 000-005.
