How to Replace a Dyson Air Purifier Filter (TP04, TP07 & HP07)
Dyson's TP04, TP07, and HP07 purifiers use a single combined HEPA and activated carbon filter that wraps around the base of the machine. Unlike some other brands, this filter isn't washable or reusable — once the machine's filter-life indicator says it's due, the whole unit needs to be swapped.
How often to replace it
Dyson purifiers track filter life internally and will show a filter-replacement alert on the LCD screen or in the app, typically around 12 months of average use. Running the purifier constantly, or in a smoky or high-dust environment, will shorten that window.

A compatible combined filter for your model — no tools required.
Steps
- Unplug the purifier before starting.
- Locate the release catch at the back of the machine, near the base — on most models this is a small lever or tab.
- Press or lift the release catch and gently pull the old filter cylinder away from the machine body.
- Unwrap the new filter and remove any plastic film — leaving it on will block airflow and trigger error messages.
- Fit the new filter cylinder onto the base, aligning the tabs, and press until it clicks fully into place on both sides.
- Plug the machine back in and reset the filter-life counter through the LCD menu or the Dyson Link app (usually under filter settings) so it tracks the new filter correctly.
A quick note on Dyson vacuum filters
If you're maintaining a V8, V10, V11, or V15, those filters are typically washable — rinse with cold water only (no detergent), and let them air-dry fully for at least 24 hours before reinserting. A damp filter put back too soon is the most common cause of a “filter” error message on Dyson vacuums.
